This whisk broom and dustpan are perfect for cleaning up tabletops and kitchen counters. It may come as a surprise to learn that the attractive dustpan is made of thick layers of paper -- not plastic (so there's no static electricity). To provide the strength and water-resistance required, the paper is coated with persimmon tannin paint. To maintain the overall shape and add strength, the top edge is fitted with a durable frame made from bamboo. HAND MADE IN JAPAN

Proper handling:● Always store the broom in a hanging position; failure to hang the broom may cause the whisks to curl. ● Do not store the broom in a tightly sealed location. Allow it to "breathe." ● In the event the broom becomes moldy, wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth, then hang it in the open and allow it to dry thoroughly. ● The dustpan is treated for resistance to water but is NOT 100% water-resistant. To preserve its life, collection of wet items (and especially water) should be avoided.
Shape restoration:If the broom curls or otherwise loses its original shape, wash it thoroughly (do not use detergents) and return the whisks to their original straightness. Then hang the broom in the open and allow it to dry thoroughly.
Other remarks:The dustpan surface is coated with persimmon tannin, a natural paint that provides a basic level of water resistance. Persimmon tannin paint is made by compressing persimmon fruit and allowing the juice to ferment; it can be used as an agent against water infiltration and corrosion.
