Drinking sake from a decanter and cups made of pewter is, in a word, extraordinary. Why? Because the inherent water-purifying property of pewter makes the sake taste smoother and more mellow. Adding to this extraordinary taste experience is the extraordinary pleasure derived from partaking of sake from this supremely elegant decanter and cup set itself.

Though made of pewter, the decanter and matching cups feature an individually executed stripe pattern that creates an elegant look of modern refinement.

Equally noteworthy is the construction of the sake cups: the pewter is fabricated to be seamless, as if it were pottery or porcelain. For safe handling, the decanter handle is exquisitely wrapped in an attractive layer of rattan -- as beautiful as it is practical.

In Japanese culture, sake is traditionally imbibed at a warm temperature. So just how warm should it be? From ancient times it's been said that sake tastes best when served at a temperature close to human body temperature. Although everyone may have individual preferences in this regard, under no circumstances should sake be heated to a boil before serving. The key word here is "warm" -- not "hot."

Of course, sake doesn't have to be served warm. It's equally delicious served well-chilled, especially when taken in the larger-size cups provided with this set. Try sake both ways -- depending on the occasion, the season or your personal preference.

This stunningly elegant pewter set includes one decanter and two cups. The set comes packed in its own handcrafted box of paulownia wood (kiri), making it ideal for use as a gift that will surely be treasured. HAND MADE IN JAPAN

Weight:380g (including wooden box)
Production time:● Approx. 1 month
Caution:● Never place empty pewter ware directly on a cooking plate or electric range, as doing so will cause the metal to melt. ● Never place pewter ware in a microwave or automatic dishwasher. ● Pewter ware may be placed inside a refrigerator, but never in a freezer. ● When placing the decanter in boiled water or filling the decanter with heated sake, always exercise caution as the metal will become dangerously hot. Always handle the decanter using the rattan-covered handle.
Advice:● The recommended procedure for preparing warm sake is as follows. First, fill a cooking pot with water to a level approximately half the height of the decanter, and bring to a boil. Next, as soon as the water begins to boil, turn off the flame. Then gently place the decanter, filled with sake, standing in the boiled water and allow the sake to warm. ● An alternative procedure is to heat the sake separately in a standard utensil and then pour the warm sake into the pewter decanter.
Cleaning:● After usage, pewter ware should be rinsed in water and wiped dry with a soft cloth. Never use polish, cleansers, metal scrubbing brushes, etc. For more thorough cleaning, cleaning may be performed using toothpaste or water containing baking powder, applied using a soft cloth.
Handle:● When necessary, the rattan handle can be repaired (at modest cost).
