Rattan bags created by artisan Kenichi Mouri are characterized by its contemporary design but inspired by classical elements. Featuring the mixture of traditional and modern rattan weaving styles along with the unique application of Japanese lacquers (urushi or Japan.) Such delicate weaving and coloring techniques sets apart from the commonly seen rattan baskets.

Rattan materials are imported to Japan from Southeast Asian countries since they are not locally grown. Only the selected finest peeled rattans are used for our collection. Although rattan bags looks similar to our bamboo bags, both materials are of completely different nature.
