[We are not taking orders]

This top is somewhat complex -- and a lot of fun. It basically consists of 3 parts: a base, a "saucer" (well, actually a bowl) holding a little gnome, and a cover. Amazingly, when everything is set in place and you follow the instructions,, at the very end the saucer and its cute little inhabitant will suddenly take flight! You'll love entertaining your friends -- and yourself! -- with it. HAND MADE IN JAPAN

The ingeniously talented craftsman who creates this traditional spinning top -- without any help from a blueprint -- is Masaaki Hiroi. Find out more about Masaaki Hiroi here.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Masaaki Hiroi.

General Information
Size:Diameter 95mm × Height 120mm
Production time:●Maximum 3 months
Proper handling:● The dyes are not colorfast, so colors may fade if brought into contact with water. ● The internal mechanisms are very delicate. The top should be handled carefully at all times.
How to use:1. Place the gnome-containing saucer into the round base. 2. Wind the string around the indentation in the cover grip-knob 15 or 16 times, being sure not to let the string get loose. Set the cover over the base. 3. Place the pointed tip of the base on a flat surface (floor, tabletop, etc.). Avoid spinning on delicate surface or tabletop, it may be prone to scratches. 4. Hold the grip-knob, and pull the string in the horizontal direction. When you come to the end of the string, lift the cover. 5. The saucer and its inhabitant will come flying out, spinning all the while. The base will spin as well. 6. Place the cover piece upside-down on the floor, and it will spin too!
