No sake drinking experience could possibly compare with the delectable delight that comes from pouring sake from a hinoki cypress decanter and then drinking it from a hinoki cypress cup. In addition to the remarkably smooth feel of the wood, the indescribably luscious fragrance of this precious wood over 300 years old adds a new dimension while the wood itself makes the sake milder than ever. Both the lidded decanter and its matching wooden cup (masu) are handcrafted using the finest-quality domestic hinoki cypress. They are ingeniously constructed using interlocking pieces so tightly fitting that they remain water-tight. No nails or glue are used whatsoever. You may find imitations on the market. But the supreme-quality handcrafted decanter and cup offered by Japan Unique Gifts are completely authentic -- proud products of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. HAND MADE IN JAPAN

Eifu Kawamata is a highly demanding craftsman -- demanding of himself, which is why he singlehandedly performs every step necessary to creating his unique objects blending traditional and contemporary forms, including selection of his wood materials.Find out more about Eifu Kawamata here.
